Mr. Omar Shehryar – Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Shehryar has over eighteen years of work experience in the banking, industrial and energy sectors. He specialised in Finance from the Stern Business School, New York University, USA and subsequently entered the banking industry and spent nine years in various roles with Citigroup and United Bank Limited in different geographies. Subsequently, Mr. Shehryar left the banking sector to setup his own business and entered the sugar and energy sectors. He is accredited with making the RYK Group amongst the top sugar and biomass energy producers in Asia. As the founder and one of the main sponsors of the RYK Group, Mr. Shehryar is not only involved in the day to day affairs of the Group but also leads its expansion and diversification strategies.
Mr. Munir Hussain – Executive Director, Group Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Mr. Hussain is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). He brings more than two decades of experience in the sugar sector in different capacities. He has been associated with RYK Group from its inception and was involved in arranging the initial project financing as well as its proper monitoring. . As Group Chief Financial Officer he oversees the finance and accounting functions and also serves on the Board of Directors in addition to being the company secretary. He is an integral part of RYK’s senior management.
Tarik Jawaid – Executive Director
Mr. Jawaid has over 20 years of work experience in corporate / investment banking, finance and principal investments. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Bates College in the USA. Mr. Jawaid spent over 15 years in corporate / investment banking with institutions like Credit Suisse, ABN AMRO Bank and DIB Capital in the USA, UAE, Hong Kong and Pakistan. He has originated, structured and executed billions of dollar worth of transactions across geographies in sectors like cement, oil & gas, power, aviation, construction, real estate, banking / leasing and infrastructure. In 2012, Mr. Jawaid left the banking sector to join the RYK Group, where he is responsible for developing new principal investments as well as arranging all project finance, working capital and acquisition finance facilities from local and foreign lenders.
Mr. Muhammad Mudassir Iqbal – Group Head Energy Business
Mr. Iqbal is member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK and brings C-suite and board room experience; having served as a Director on the Board of Directors of ten listed companies. He has been associated with the power sector since 2005. Prior to joining the RYK Group, he was the CFO of Descon Power Solutions which provides O&M services for wind, bagasse and large thermal IPPs. He also served as part of the Corporate Finance team at the 1,600MW Kot Addu Power Company, Pakistan’s largest Private Power Producer. Since joining the RYK Group, Mr. Iqbal is responsible for all regulatory, technical and commercial aspects power projects (both in-house & IPPs) from conception to COD. Additionally he is responsible for overseeing and improving operational efficiency of all technical areas of power operations of the Group.
Riaz Ahmed – Group Technical Director
Mr. Ahmed is a chemical engineer from University of Engineering and Technology with over 40 Years of experience in sugar sector; is credited with setting up / operating more than 50,000 TCD sugar crushing capacity and 50+ MW of power cogeneration. He is responsible for overseeing all operational and technical matters of RYK Group’s sugar operations.
